RIPE NCC – IP address space

walkingtoweb is a full member of the RIPE NCC and has its own IPv4 and IPv6 address space. The RIPE NCC is the Regional Internet Registry for Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia. It manages the allocation of IP addresses and autonomous system numbers for more than 20,000 members and, as a not-for-profit organisation, ensures that internet resources are registered uniquely, transparently and traceably.

We hold our own address blocks directly with the RIPE NCC. This makes us more independent of individual suppliers and allows us to control our network infrastructure ourselves. We determine our routing independently, can relocate services flexibly and retain full control over key technical resources.

This independence is an important part of our operational reliability. It increases stability and resilience and creates long-term predictability for all the solutions we operate for our customers.

Netgear – internal network

For our internal network, we rely on a cluster of Netgear switches with 10G/40G connectivity per server. All Proxmox clusters are connected redundantly via two separate networks. If one network path fails, operation continues without interruption via the remaining connection.

With its enterprise line, Netgear offers powerful, reliable and flexibly scalable switches. Its experience in low-latency AV networking in particular makes Netgear a strong foundation for fast and stable data transfer. This combination of high bandwidth, low latency, stability and efficient management is crucial for transporting data securely and efficiently between servers, storage and external connectivity.

The redundantly designed Netgear network thus forms the powerful backbone of our infrastructure.

For you, this means: short paths for your data, high transfer rates and networking that grows reliably with increasing requirements.

Proxmox VE – virtualisation and Ceph

For virtualisation, we rely on Proxmox VE – a modern, powerful open-source platform that we operate in several clusters. Proxmox Virtual Environment combines virtual machines, containers, highly available Ceph storage and virtual networks in one integrated, mature solution.

In combination with Ceph, Proxmox is the ideal basis for secure and highly available virtualisation. Ceph enables data redundancy, snapshots and flexible scaling without dependence on proprietary vendors or expensive licensing models. Proxmox VE is developed by Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH in Vienna, and numerous companies worldwide rely on this platform.

In high-availability cluster operation, virtual machines can be moved live between servers during maintenance work or faults. This ensures that your systems keep running even when individual components need to be serviced or replaced.

With Proxmox VE, you benefit from a future-proof, open-source virtualisation solution that combines stability, security and flexibility – and grows reliably with your requirements.

Server Technology – power management

The intelligent power management of our servers is handled by systems from Server Technology. For around 40 years, the manufacturer has been developing high-quality power distribution units (PDUs) for data centres and is one of the world's leading suppliers in this field.

The intelligent rack PDUs reliably distribute power to the individual servers and measure consumption and load precisely down to outlet level. This allows us to detect load peaks early, optimise energy efficiency and make the best possible use of the available capacity of each rack.

Thanks to remote monitoring and switching functions, individual outlets can be monitored, controlled and, if necessary, restarted remotely. This enables us to react more quickly and safeguard operations more efficiently.

With Server Technology's mature PDUs, we ensure that our systems are supplied with power cleanly, under monitoring and with high resilience. An often invisible but crucial building block for the uninterrupted operation of your services.

Schneider Electric – monitoring and protection

For monitoring, environmental monitoring and access control, we rely on solutions from APC by Schneider Electric. APC is a leading Schneider Electric brand and has stood for reliable, well-thought-out IT infrastructure solutions in data centre operations for decades.

Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) bridge power failures seamlessly and protect our servers against voltage fluctuations. In addition, environmental and access sensors continuously monitor key parameters such as temperature, humidity and physical access to the racks.

This allows us to detect deviations early and react before they turn into a fault. APC's proven technology adds an additional level of reliability to the protection of our data centre.

For you, this means: a continuously monitored operating environment in which power supply, environment and access are fully controlled – so that your data and services remain protected and available around the clock.

swiss hosting – Swiss data storage with a legal guarantee

With the protected “swiss hosting” label, we guarantee that your services and data are operated and stored exclusively in Switzerland. They are not held by international hyperscalers, are not used to train third-party AI systems and are consistently subject to Swiss law.

“swiss hosting” is more than a promise about location. It is a legally binding commitment based on two clear principles: your data stays in Switzerland, and third parties can only access it via Swiss authorities and in accordance with Swiss law. Foreign legal instruments such as the US CLOUD Act or comparable laws have no direct access to your data here.

The label was developed by the swiss made software organisation. It is awarded exclusively to verified Swiss providers that meet strict requirements. walkingtoweb is an official “swiss hosting” partner and meets all the requirements: registered office, actual management and data centre operations are all located in Switzerland.

This gives you genuine data sovereignty – not just a promise about where your data is stored, but reliable Swiss infrastructure under Swiss control.
