Professionally implemented

Modern encryption is a must today.
With our SSL and S/MIME certificates, you secure websites, FileMaker databases, servers and email in line with current standards.

Secure certificates – essential for your customers' trust

What is an SSL 123 certificate?

Thawte SSL 123 is the ideal entry-level certificate for anyone who wants to secure their website easily and cost-effectively. As a domain-validated (DV) certificate, it confirms your control of the domain within minutes – without any time-consuming company verification.

Despite the attractive price, you benefit from strong SSL/TLS encryption according to current standards. Browsers display the familiar padlock symbol and “https” – security warnings are a thing of the past.

Perfect for blogs, smaller company websites, test environments, intranets or mail servers where the main concern is secure data transfer.

SSL 123 certificates are the ideal solution for FileMaker and Nextcloud servers.

What is an SSL 123 Wildcard certificate?

Thawte SSL 123 Wildcard combines fast domain validation with maximum flexibility. With a single certificate, you secure your main domain and all subdomains, such as:

shop.your-domain.ch
mail.your-domain.ch
portal.your-domain.ch

Issued within minutes, flexible to use and expandable at any time – no new order required for additional subdomains. Ideal for growing web projects, portals, customer platforms, intranets or dynamic server environments.

SSL 123 Wildcard certificates let you easily secure all your company's servers with just one certificate.

What is a Web Server certificate?

The Thawte Web Server certificate (OV) not only offers strong encryption but also confirms the existence of your company. In addition to the domain, your organisation is officially verified – the verified company name is visibly recorded in the certificate.

For visitors, this means genuine transparency and significantly more trust.
A clear signal against phishing and fake websites.

Ideal for online shops, booking systems, customer portals and professional corporate websites.

Web Server certificates offer even greater security, e.g. for online shops or websites with customer data.

What is a Web Server Plus certificate (EV)?

Web Server Plus (EV) is Thawte's premium option and stands for Extended Validation – the strictest form of certificate verification. Your organisation is comprehensively verified: legal status, identity and authorisation are checked in detail.

The result: maximum credibility and clear proof of trustworthiness towards your customers. Ideal for banks, insurance companies, payment providers and larger online shops, where security is business-critical.

You achieve the maximum trust of your customers with EV certificates.

What is an S/MIME email certificate?

An S/MIME email certificate does not protect your website but your email communication. It enables:

✔ Digital signature – confirms your identity
✔ Encryption – protects content against unauthorised access

Recipients can see immediately that your message is authentic and has not been altered in transit. Integration into Outlook, Apple Mail (macOS and iOS) or Thunderbird is easy – after that, you sign and encrypt with a click.

Secure email is the basis of your daily communication, and S/MIME is the best solution for it.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions

For further questions and clarification about the possibilities with certificates, please feel free to contact us.

  • What is the difference between free and paid SSL certificates?

Encrypting data transfer with an SSL certificate is strongly recommended for every service and every website. There are both free SSL certificates (e.g. from Let's Encrypt) and paid SSL certificates (e.g. from Thawte).

For private use, free certificates are sufficient. They encrypt the connection. For businesses, however, we recommend paid certificates, because these are only issued after validation and thus confirm the identity of the website operator. This shows your customers that your company really exists and immediately builds trust.

  • Can further domains or subdomains be added to an SSL certificate?

Additional SANs for other domains or for subdomains can be added to any SSL certificate set up for a domain. This is also possible at a later date.

An alternative is wildcard SSL certificates, which can secure any number of subdomains.

  • Why is S/MIME important for email?

With an S/MIME certificate, you confirm to the recipient of your emails that the email really was sent by you. A message signed with a personal certificate proves not only its origin, authorship and integrity but also the identity of the sender, which has been verified and is stated in the personal certificate.

You can never completely rule out the risk of spoofed emails being sent with your domain, but with a personal S/MIME certificate the recipient can see immediately whether or not the email was sent by you.

S/MIME is recommended for every user who sends emails in a business environment.
